For the second time around, the leaders and municipal employees of this town are awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) for the  transparency and accountability of  their operations, and for excellence in good governance based on records. The screening was undertaken by the regional offices of the national government agencies led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Secretary Mar Roxas. And to make the award even sweeter, Pozorrubio is upgraded to Silver Grade Awardee of the 2012 Seal of Good Housekeeping!

Information regarding Pozorrubio’s reception of this award was just relayed by DILG Austere Panadero last November 22, 2013 for the facilitation of the issuance of SGH certification for loan applications to programs such as the Bottom-UP Budgeting Program, otherwise known as the Grassroots Participatory Budget Process.

Pozorrubians of Midwest USA medical mission

Since 2005, Anthony Mendoza has developed a habit, of earnestly and winningly convincing Pozorrubians in the US Midwest area to fund medical and dental missions to his hometown of Pozorrubio. He gives himself and his group, the Pozorrubians Midwest USA (PMWUSA), two years to raise enough for the purchase of medicines and miscellaneous expenses of a team of doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, and volunteers for the duration of the mission.

Since then, Tony had brought home four such missions, benefiting thousands of Pozorrubians with each mission. (N.B.Unfortunately, this writer was not yet part of the local scene to have documented the first two.) Tony is son of respected Pozorrubians, educators Eulogio and La Paz Mendoza.
