‘The Hurricane’ traces Pangasinan roots

LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN—Three-time Filipina world boxing champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton finally set foot on her grandparents’ home province on Wednesday on her way to Pozorrubio town to visit more relatives.

“It’s amazing. It’s my first time here and everything is just beautiful. Everyone’s heart’s warm and it feels like family,” Julaton said shortly after meeting with provincial officials here. Continue reading

Wednesday July 14, 2010, just only a few hours after Ana “The Hurricane” arrived in the Philippines for a promotional tour, she takes a long ride back to home. No, she did not take another flight back to the USA.

Also home to the World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Association (IBA) super bantamweight world champion is Barangay Villegas, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan where her Dad, Cesario M. Julaton II, was a resident before he emigrated to the USA. Generations of Julatons still live there, and Dad Cesario goes back on short visits now and then. Continue reading
