ABS-CBN, GMA7 features swords, the OCWs of Pozorrubio

Written by JVillamil

On two April Sundays, Pozorrubians managed to shake themselves clear from the maelstrom that Pinoy politics has sucked everyone into, from children to elderly, from Batanes of the north to the far island provinces of the Celebes.

Pozorrubio joins the nation’s showcase of the admirable and the quaint as the two rival networks, one after the other, diverted the viewers’ focus away from the raging campaign issues, at least for a moment or two. Straight from their main studio in Metro Manila, the researchers and writers of GMA7 and ABS-CBN traveled to this town  to shoot and to interview  the husbands of its OCWs and its makers of swords.

On Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, at 9:30 in the evening, True Stories (left) hosted by Vicki Morales at QTV, sister station of GMA7, featured  the husbands of Pozorrubian women working overseas and how these men coped with the loneliness that they may deal better with  the responsibilities of being both Tatay and Nanay ng tahanan and to their children. Yesterday, April 25, at 7:30 in the evening, the Byaheng Norte segment of Korina Sanchez’ Rated K of ABS-CBN featured the medieval and the Filipiniana swords made by the De Guzman family of barangay Palacpalac.
